With two sites in the Bay Area for more than 35 years, West-Wind School is the "oldest and largest Karate school" in Alameda. West-Wind honors the deep tradition and classical styling of bok fu ("the Way of the White Tiger," a Chinese system of martial arts), with a wide range of martial arts and boxing classes and authentic Asian decor. Concrete Body began as a personal training gym servicing employees of a small engineering and construction company. Now Concrete Body has opened its doors to the community and offers one-on-one personal training, as well as group classes for up to four participants through its C2 (Core & Conditioning) fitness program. In addition to treadmills, eliptical and spinning bikes, the gym is equipped with a rowing machine, Jacob's Ladder, climbing rope and a peg board. Zumba classes have been recently added to the schedule as well.

Bladium Sports Club has beautifully restored an old Navy hanger into a multifaceted sports center. Since 2001 at its Alameda location, and in the bay area since 1996, Bladium has served as a sports arena for soccer and hockey leagues, hosted sports-centered birthday parties, offered gym memberships with full access to the entire facility, run Group X classes with pilates and yoga workouts, offered boxing training, and taught rock-climbing with a 35-foot wall and a 10-foot boulder. Upstairs in the facility, overlooking the entire grounds, is a sports bar, complete  with flat-screen televisions, food and alcohol. Bladium Sports Club proudly promotes its unique combination of children and adults as a family-oriented gym in which children take gymnasium classes and interact in numerous athletic activities at the same time as their parents use the facility. For kids 8 & up, there is also a Kid's Club room, which has flat-screen televisions and Nintendo Wiis with interactive games, a karaoke system and parentally controled computers.

An Alameda institution since 1949, when it was founded as the Alameda Boys Club by local businessman Leonard E. Lee, the Club began to incorporate girls into programing in the 1980s and officially became the Alameda Boys & Girls Club in 1991.

Operating in partnership with many other community groups, the Alameda Boys & Girls Club aims to "inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential," providing them with recreational and educational opportunities in a safe and welcoming setting.

 In 2006, the Club began a capital campaign to replace the organization's Lincoln Avenue building, and in 2010 it broke ground at a 1.5-acre site. The new west end facility will include a gym, teen center, game room, computer lab, learning center, music and dance areas, a dental clinic and a health clinic.

Club Nautique is a school, club and yacht charting company. With two locations in Alameda and Sausalito, this is the newest and largest fleet on San Francisco Bay. The sailing and powerboating schools offer beginner and advanced lessons, as well as number of other classes, clinics and events. Depending on the your skill level and interests, the Charter Club provides different levels of membership. The fleet consists of all new models of sail and power boats, from 26' to 49', fully equipped for safety and adventure. During the mid-1980s, an indoor swimming pool was built at the Mariner Square Athletic Club. At that time, the racquetball courts were also converted into fitness centers and the snack bar was converted into a full functioning cafe. The club offers a variety of aqua aerobic classes and more than 40 group exercise classes weekly. Specialty classes such as yoga, Pilates, tai chi and karate are offered at no addition cost to its members. Mariner Square Athletic Club Mariner Square Athletic Club was built in 1978, and originally went by the name of Supreme Courts.
