Lou Lambert opened the Kona Frame Shop in 1976, and her dedication to quality and customer service quickly boosted the business to its current status as Konas premier frame shop. All picture framing work is done on the Kona Frame Shop premises, from hand wrapping fabric mats and liners, stretching and mounting, glazing, to joining and finishing frames. Art work is carefully stored and handled, and remains here until the job is finished and picked up. Rosemary was the first employee of Kona Frame Shop, beginning her career in picture framing in 1978. Her focus is on customer service, innovative frame design, and overall shop operations. She has participated in many framing workshops and seminars, and stays current on the latest techniques and trends. Rosemary is a strong advocate of conservation framing, having seen what the Hawaiian environment can do to framed art work over the years in terms of heat, strong sunlight, salt air and high humidity. She enjoys coming up with innovative framing designs for adventurous customers looking for something different in the presentation of their artwork. Nora was the second employee of Kona Frame Shop, starting in 1982. Attracted to the frame business because of her art background, Nora has a keen sense of color, and brings an elegant and subtle design aesthetic to framing projects - using understated, muted tones in design. She is a talented printmaker, having won numerous awards in juried art exhibits. Ten of her monotypes have been purchased by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Nora Yamanohas work is featured on our website. Diane has spent her career as a cabinetmaker and woodworker, and started working at Kona Frame Shop in 2000. She handles all the frame cutting and joining, and on unfinished woods such as Oak, Mango and Koa she spends additional time sanding and lacquering to bring out the natural grain and lustre. Repairs on customers old or antique frames are always a welcome challenge. With a craftsmans eye for fit and finish, Diane imposes very high standards on all facets of her work.
