The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and educating the public on modern and traditional crafts, as well as supporting and providing exposure for local artists and craftspeople. There are several retail locations featuring the work of these individuals, and the Nashua location is owned by basket maker and league member Ruth Boland and her husband, Tom. It offers a wide selection of baskets, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, leatherwork, metalwork, glassware, art pieces and more. The Nashua shop also hosts events, demonstrations and classes for teens and adults.
Nahcotta is located in the heart of historical downtown Portsmouth. The gallery offers paintings of the contemporary abstract genre, and also sells other home decor, including furniture. It has jewelry and gifts and other artful household knickknacks. This store is an eclectic one, and is situated in an area where there are several unique shops, boutiques and restaurants. The clientele is diverse, including upscale bohemians, businessmen, working-class people and more. The shop is well laid out, with paintings, furniture and gift items spread throughout the spacious floor.
