Owned by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, Crabtree Nature Center is a beautiful place to explore and learn about the wildlife in Barrington. The center offers an educational exhibit building and several miles of self-guided trails for the entire family to enjoy. Year round, the center provides dozens of exhibits and programs about nature and wildlife that are free of charge.
The DuPage Workforce Board was created under a 1998 federal law called the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which pushed the use of federal job training funds for adults, dislocated workers and youth. This business-led policy and decision-making body focuses on creating a workforce development system that meets the needs of employers and helps expand employment opportunities for residents. It works with private sectors, non-profit agencies, educational institutions, local elected officials and local government agencies. It also provides labor and job training and education programs for those who qualify.
The county administrative services office provides secretarial and research support to the County Board and its committees. It also coordinates the county's budget preparation process, recruits employees for specific county departments, oversees many of the county's insurance programs and coordinates the liquor license application process, among other duties.
The administrative services office is located in Room 203 of the Kendall County Office Building. County administrator Jeff Wilkins oversees this office.
The Kendall County Clerk and Recorder's offices have a variety of duties, from filing marriage licenses and birth and death certificates to keeping County Board meeting minutes. These offices, which are headed by Debbie Gillette, also are responsible for staffing and providing equipment for elections, as well as maintaining documents surrounding land transactions.
The Recorder's Office is located on the first floor of the Kendall County Office Building. The County Clerk's Office is located on the second floor.
This park is owned by the Cook County Forest Preserve but is leased and used by the River Forest Park District. It features a baseball diamond and a large grassy area for all kinds of outdoor activities.
