Messinger & Associates was founded in 1945 by Henry M. Messinger. The business began with offices located in Bastrop and in St. Joseph, Louisiana. Henry was named Parish Surveyor for Morehouse Parish by Governor Jimmie H. Davis in 1960. Henry also served as President for the Louisiana Land Surveyors Association in 1967. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Henry was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, the Presbyterian Church, and the Bastrop/Morehouse Chamber of Commerce. Frank L. Messinger, III was born in Bastrop, Louisiana. As a youth, he was active in Boy Scouts and later achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Frank attended Arlington State College, Northeast Louisiana State University, and Louisiana Polytechnic Institute. He also proudly served in the United States Navy. Frank L. Messinger, III is licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. He served as President of the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors (LSPS). It is noteworthy that Frank is the only person in history to have served as President of LSPS for two consecutive terms (1982-1983). In 1996, he was appointed to serve as a member on the Louisiana Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Board. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Episcopal Church. Frank is currently Vice President of Messinger & Associates, Inc. Jeffrey M. Messinger would soon follow the path of his predecessors to join the family business. In Jeffrey’s active participation in scouting, he became a third generation Eagle Scout. He attended Louisiana Tech and Northeast Louisiana University, graduating in 1999. Jeffrey M. Messinger is licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Louisiana and Mississippi. Jeffrey is currently President of Messinger & Associates, Inc. From its inception in 1945, Messinger & Associates, Inc. has acquired the records of eleven surveyors that practiced in the Northeast Region of Louisiana from 1874 to 2006. As the oldest family owned surveying firm in Northeast Louisiana, we are committed to serving this area and maintaining the client relationships that have helped establish our business and reputation throughout the years.

One-hundred and nineteen years ago Joe Bosse started a newsstand, tobacco shop, and a newspaper and magazine distribution business on the corner of Cherry & Adams Street in downtown Green Bay. He hired 12-year old Norman Liebert to work for him as a paperboy in 1922. Norman took over the business when Joe died in 1943. The business has been in the Liebert family ever since. In 1981, with the redevelopment of downtown Green Bay, Bosses was relocated 1/2 blocks west to its present location at 220 Cherry St. This downtown store has become a tradition in Green Bay for many generations of families. Its an old fashion newsstand that still caters to the public in an old fashion way.

We are family owned and managed in Durango, by family members who have been backpacking since 1976, climbing since 1977, and opened their first specilty outdoor store in 1979. Our store is a full line, completely stocked backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing and backcountry/telemark ski shop. With the Southern Rocky Mountains and high desert around us, and the canyons and big walls of Arizona and Utah to the west, our staff loves to play hard and have fun. We constantly use, abuse and evaluate gear before we decide to stock it... that is, if we like it! Many times, we try a product and find that it really is not of the quality, or price/value that we feel it should be. And thus, we do not stock it and will be happy to tell you why. This also allows us to find the best products for the money that you may not see in many "traditional" outdoor stores. We arent content to carry a line of gear just because they have a big name or because everyone else sells it too - we look for what works the best! Which often means brands of packs, sleeping bags, tents, technical outerwear, and other gear that you may not have seen in the stores in your area or mail order catalogs - but products every bit as good, or superior to the better known brands, and with the best warrantees in the business. Sorry, we dont publish a catalog! But we do offer phone and mail order service for two reasons. First, too many people were coming into our store saying how great it was to be in a real backpacking shop again - with more packs, gear and technical outerwear than casual clothing. The other reason was our knowledge that most states are much larger than Colorado, but have very few good outdoor stores.
