The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, established in 1915, maintains the county s forest land, prairies and wetlands, as well as numerous public gardens. It also performs functions related to the land capable of being restored to natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna, and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of its citizens. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, located in Wheaton, Ill., a board of commissioners that oversee the activities of the forest preserve district and open space needs of county residents into ordinances designed to protect and enhance natural areas. The district maintains the offices of education, land preservation, environmental services, finance, golf operations, law enforcement, human resources, information technology, land management, natural resources, planning and public affairs.
