The 5,800 acres park has natural and developed areas and more than 40 miles of trails and camping at Kumeyaay Lake. Other points of interest include a Visitors and Interpretive Center and amphitheater. It is also the site of the Old Mission Dam, which was built to supply water for Mission San Diego de Alcala.
Bernardo Heights Community Center is used exclusively by the 3,500 residents of Bernardo Heights. It features tennis courts, pedestrian paths, a country club and the well-maintained Lucido Park. Yoga, kick-boxing and swimming classes are available as well as personal trainers.
The Church at Rancho Bernardo has grown exponentially since it first opened in 1990. Founded in a living room by two Christian couples, it soon expanded to a school, and now operates out of an expansive building on Bernardo Plaza Court, where the church is home to more than 2,000 members. The ministry focuses on improving the lives and spirituality of church members. Church leaders say, "Our desire is that The Church at Rancho Bernardo be an environment that offers friendship and encouragement, as well as personal and spiritual growth."
