Western Tidewater Regional Jail is a correctional facility that provides care, custody and support to inmates. It works to improve the safety and security of the residents of the City of Franklin, City of Suffolk and Isle of Wight County in Virginia. About the FacilityThe Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail ( VPRJ ) is a facility with a rated housing capacity of 290 and an expanded housing capacity of 612 male and female inmates. Located on a 35-acre site on Rte. 143 in James City County, the jail opened in June of 1997 and serves the counties of York and James City and the cities of Williamsburg and Poquoson. The primary mission of the facility is to provide a safe and secure environment for the detention of persons lawfully admitted to the facility by the four participating jurisdictions.The Regional Jail recognizes it is an integral part of the community and has a role to play in the enhancement of the areas quality of life. We continually strive to ensure that the facility operates in a cost-efficient and cost-effective manner. We recognize our client base includes the local criminal justice system whose agencies interact with the facility on a daily basis, and that we must endeavor to assist them as they perform their duties and responsibilities. The Regional Jail is also committed to providing inmates with the opportunity to leave the facility in a better condition than they were in prior to incarceration.The operational philosophy of the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail is to perform all duties mandated by the Constitutions of the United States, the Commonwealth of Virginia, all applicable federal and state laws, and the facility policies as set forth by the Regional Jail Authority Board of Directors.

Rappahannock Regional Jail serves the adult corrections needs of the counties of Spotsylvania and King George and the City of Fredericksburg in Virginia. It is one of the largest regional government agencies in the Fredericksburg area. Founded in 1968, the jail is more than 264,000-square-foot corrections facility located in Stafford, Va. Rappahannock Regional Jail employs over 250 persons and its kitchen serves nearly 3,000 meals daily. The jail offers community-based probation, pretrial supervision, home electronic incarceration and work release programs. Its Regional Law Enforcement LAN enhances information sharing between local law enforcement agencies and the Community Criminal Justice Board (CCJB). Rappahannock Regional Jail provides food, maintenance, grounds keeping, laundry and transportation services to the regional juvenile detention center.
