Chillicothe Correctional Institution provides various counseling and correctional services for offenders of felony convictions in the state of Ohio. It also offers protection to the citizens of Ohio and provides education, mentorship and training for professional growth and development of the offenders. Additionally, it provides re-entry, community service and victim reparation services. The institution provides various programs, such as the Renaissance Program and the Sex Offender Program. Its Renaissance Program provides a 70-bed residential alcohol and other drug abuse treatment unit offering cognitive behavioral therapy. It additionally provides inmate programs, such as community and religious services and vocational and educational programs. It provides vocational training in various trades, such as carpentry, building maintenance, welding and heating, cooling and air conditioning. It also provides adult basic education and literacy programs, and operates the Hocking Technical College. It also maintains children s reading rooms that provides a wide variety of books and has narrators who read to the visiting children. Chillicothe Correctional Institution is operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and is located in Chillicothe, Ohio.
