The mission of the Petaluma River Heritage Center is to introduce current and future generations to the history of the Petaluma River and its adjacent sloughs, marshes and farmlands. The center teaches maritime, agricultural and outdoor heritage skills to visitors. The center also provides river-related displays, programs, interactive classes and stewardship activities.
The National Holistic Institute is one of the most respected massage therapy schools in the world. It has been hosting students and teaching massage therapy since 1979. It is the first massage school in Northern California to be accredited. Once students graduate, a network of other graduates and supporters help place students in jobs. The association is involved with the downtown area's festivals, shopping, town events, marketing and business improvement. Hermann Sons Hall is a community center that features a large dance floor, stage, kitchen, bar, and a meeting room. The facility is available for rent by private groups.
