The National Holistic Institute is one of the most respected massage therapy schools in the world. It has been hosting students and teaching massage therapy since 1979. It is the first massage school in Northern California to be accredited. Once students graduate, a network of other graduates and supporters help place students in jobs. The NHI offers continuing education classes, financing and placement services.
Since March 29, 1949, this office has served as the central organization of the Pacific Palisades business community. Arthur Loomis of the Santa Monica Land and Water Company served as its first president, while J.U. Chaffin, Bay Theatre manager, was his vice president, and Phyllis Genovese, owner of the Palisades Letter Shop on Via de la Paz, was the Chamber's first treasurer.
The Chamber of Commerce serves many functions within the Fair Oaks community. Its services are funded by membership investment dues, special fundraising projects and publication sales.
The Chamber is, for all intents and purposes, the Fair Oaks board of supervisors, with many of its members serving roles as honorary mayors, county special events coordinators among many others. The Chamber also sponsors many events throughout the year.
Standing on the perimeter of Lake Merritt, Cathedral of Christ the Light serves as the home of the Diocese of Oakland as well as members of the St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, which was damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Since its dedication in 2008, the visually stunning cathedral offers weekday and weekend masses, as well as concerts and guided and self-guided tours.

On the second and fourth Tuesday Cathedral organist Dr. Rudy de Vos gives a demonstration of the Conroy Memorial Organ as part of the docent-led tour. If inspired, attend Sunday Mass to hear music and a message.

Free. The Cathedral offers guided tours daily at 1 p.m. There are no walk-in guided tours on Saturdays or Sundays. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure.

Palos Verdes Art Center is non-profit community arts organization. It is involved with local schools and pre-schools and organizes tours of exhibitions, visiting speakers and gives scholarships. Visual art classes, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking, digital arts, art history and much more is taught here, and everybody from ages 3 to 103, and of all skill levels, are welcome. Small classes are taught by artists and art educators. Private and semi-private lessons can also be arranged. Terms begin in January, April, July and September.

Congress chartered the American Legion in 1919, making it the largest veterans organization. Even after coming back from serving the country, these veterans still serve their communities by mentoring youth, advocating patriotism and promoting a strong national security. Current members partner with fellow servicemembers and veterans.
The Legion also offers many programs, like the American Legion Baseball, Heroes to Hometowns, and has great political influence in the legislative process.
The Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce is comprised of 1,100 members. The chamber has a five star accredited rating, one of only two in the state, and often puts on networking events, produces a newsletter, and represents the interest of local businesses to legislators. The chamber aims to create a strong local economy through these efforts.
