The Community United Methodist Church in Ellington is a church that is devoted to helping the community as much as possible. The community house at the church is available to anyone in Ellington who is looking for a place to hold meeting or gathering. For using this room, donations are accepted but are not required. The church and the community house are also to be used as a safe haven for the children at Crystal Lake Elementary School in case of a natural disaster or other emergency. There is also a food pantry at the church that serves several families in the Crystal Lake area. While it is serving many people, the members of the Community United Methodist Church would like be able to help more people and are looking to expand the pantry. At this church, there are many ways to be involved in the life of the church. There are choirs, youth programs and study groups.
