Family Radio is a Christian radio religious broadcasting network that has been around for approximately 50 years. In the Ellington and Vernon area, there is a tower that carries the programs to this region.
There are 61 stations across the country and most of the programs are produced in the home base of Oakland, Calif., and are distributed by satellite to the other stations. There are some local public affairs programs produced in each specific area.
All of the stations are operated non-commercially so they are completely listener supported. It is a low-budget project that doesn't sell time for advertising or paid programs.
Because the stations are non-commercial, ratings services are not subscribed to so it is unknown how many listeners there are.
The local station can be found on 1170 am WCTF and is a daytime only station, meaning it runs from sunup to sundown. The times therefore fluctuate throughout the year based on whether the days are getting longer or shorter.
