Because of its proximity to 55+ communities, the hospital's emergency room can be busy -- and treatment there is high quality. With the independent hospital struggling to stay solvent during a major recession, San Gorgonio's board has decided to switch management companies. The hospital recently opened a much-needed helicopter pad -- choppers used to land on Highland Springs Avenue! There are plans for a new emergency room and ICU after a renovation of the hospital's infrastructure -- all projects funded by a $108 million bond approved by hospital district voters. The "memorial" in the hospital's name is a dedication to military veterans.
