The South Carolina Retirement System maintains the mission to administer a comprehensive program of retirement benefits responsive to the needs of South Carolina s public workforce and to perform fiduciary duties as stewards of the contributions and disbursements of the pension trust funds. With net assets of approximately $25 billion, the South Carolina Retirement System pays annuities in excess of $1.7 billion annually to more than 104,000 retirees, TERI participants and surviving beneficiaries. Annual contributions from the retirement system s 800 covered employers and 215,000 active members total $1.1 billion.
