Forest Hollow Swim Club is open to patrons via membership. Although members are mainly from neighborhoods in the vicinity, club membership is open to all. Members can take swimming lessons and participate on a swim team. The staff is friendly and professional—they take pride in promoting the feeling that the club is "one big family."
Established in 1992, Aquatic Adventures is a retail shop selling scuba gear and other water accessories. It offers evening and weekend scuba diving lessons. Situated in Mount Vernon Plaza, Aquatic Adventures has been at this location since 2003. It has recently been given the area's first National Geographic Dive Center Award and first DAN Training Center Award.
With a 25-meter pool and two meter-length diving boards, this state-of-the-art facility is set up for swim and dive competitions, instructions, and water polo. It also has space for 175 spectators; admission is $7 and $5 for Arlington residents (with ID).
Founded in 1980, the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia offers many fitness and sports programs for people of all ages, genders and affiliations. Programs include aquatics, dance, fine arts, yoga, strength training, kickboxing, Jazzercise and Jewish Journey.
This park is home to the Woodbridge Little League, hiking trails, soccer fields and a water park. This expansive park, which has a view of the water, also includes a small skateboarding park. The community center is open year-round with a variety of activies for children of all ages. Picnic areas can be rented for private events.
Located at 1300 Dixon Street, this is a public swimming pool in Dixon Park. It is a seasonal resource that is open only in the summer from late May to late August. Residents and non-residents ages three and over are required to have a pool identification card for admission. Admission is free for residents. Long Branch Swim & Racquet Club a private, members-only pool and is home to the Long Branch Dolphins division 11 swim team. The pool ranges from two-and-a-half to 12 feet in depth, and features a bright yellow waterslide in the deep end. The club has two tennis courts, and individual and group tennis instruction is available.
The Spring Hill Recreation Center is McLean's popular community-wide swimming pool, fitness center, kiddie camp, martial and arts and yoga center. It has just undergone a $1 million renovation that included a new heating and air conditioning system. The centerpiece of Spring Hill is a heated indoor 25-yard by 25-meter swimming pool and two one-meter diving boards. The center now has softer surfaces for the exercise class rooms and new equipment in the weight and aerobics room.
Lake Fairfax Park, operated by Fairfax County, is a bucolic, 476-acre setting located in Reston. Some of the park's features include trails, a campground, a carousel, an 18-acre lake with boats for rent, and many picnic and play areas.
The park is also home to the Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole - a water park that offers slides, wading pools and other water activities for the whole family.
Park admission is free, but the Water Mine, carousel and boat rentals have entry fees.
There are numerous soccer and lacrosse fields, so the park is a busy spot for sports teams on weekends.
