The MerrittView Deli, located across from the Merritt 7 office complex buildings on Main Avenue, features made-to-order sandwiches. There is free parking in the front, and it's a quick drive to the Merritt Parkway entrance.
"The best chicken cutlets and roast beef" says the friendly owner of Italian Corner Deli. Stop and try them, and in nice weather, sit out at one of the tables in front.
In cold weather, try the soups. There are two a day. The owner, Tom, says he was asked to enter his clam chowder in a local competition. And he would, he said, if he could only get away for a day.
Home of the $5 footlong, Subway has become a favorite sub shop and this one is no different. Located inside the same plaza as Best Buy and Post Road Diner, it's easy to locate. Subway is best known for its made-to-order sub sandwiches using fresh ingredients on freshly store-baked bread.
Subway, newly relocated to Marshalls Plaza on Westport Avenue, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Classic and premium foot-long or six-inch subs can be made on any of four different types of sub rolls (there are two wholegrain options) or flatbread with your choice of cheese, vegetables and condiments. Salad choices include Veggie Delite, oven roasted chicken breast, Black Forest ham and tuna. A sub or salad can be upgraded to a meal which includes a drink and one side (chips, cookies, apples, yogurt). A kids menu and box lunches are also available. Subway also has a catering menu consisting of sandwich platters, giant subs and cookie platters.
