The Office of the State Comptroller is responsible for auditing and managing government operations and assets throughout the state of New York. It conducts management and financial audits for the state s agencies and public benefit corporations. The office additionally maintains the states accounting system and issues monthly cash financial statements, as well as reviews contracts, payrolls and payments. It is also responsible for overseeing fiscal affairs of the local governments and state and federal courts. The office coordinates abandoned property programs, as well as monitors and reports on public entities and related agencies. In addition, it operates public pension fund for the state and local employees and provides services to more than 260,000 retirees and their beneficiaries. The Office of the State Comptroller conducts investigation, research, and cash and debt management programs.
