Amongst its twenty-five acres, Newton Park contains four baseball fields, two tennis courts, two football fields, an ice rink, sled hill, basketball court, playground and a large skate park. There are parking lots at each end of the grounds. There is also a shelter including a public restroom and concession stand and a picnic pavilion.
York Commons Park is always alive with activity during the summer. With its picnic tables, ball diamond, soccer field, skate park and swimming pool, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The land also includes the Elmhurst Fire Department, which was recently reconstructed. In 2000, a major renovation involved the creation a new pool with a water park named after Norman P. Smalley for his service as a park commissioner.
Located in Des Plaines, Mountain View Adventure Center is a full entertainment facility which provides games and activities which cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Part of the Des Plaines Park District, this facility offers an 18-hole mini golf course, batting cages and a skate and BMX park, which features a quarter and sub box, grinding walls, benches and rails and a five foot quarter pipe. Mountain View additionally hosts special events, group outings, parties and summer camps.
Langendorf Park is a 37-acre park that is operated and maintained by the Barrington Park District. Park features include a fitness and recreation centers, a children's preschool workshop, community and meeting rooms, volleyball courts, a field house, playground, cross-country skiing during the winter season, picnic shelters and sites, an aquatic center and administrative offices. The park also has a five-hole par-3 golf course and skate park.
Every community needs a park where the doggies can go. Community Bark West features a dog park and is completely fenced in, so nobody can stray. There is a general-population area and a special area for dogs under 25 pounds. It is necessary to call the park service first to register your dog and get a pass.
Des Plaines Park District is made up of over 60 playgrounds, community gardens, golf centers, water parks and community centers. They offer programs for pre-schoolers to seniors in in Pilates, yoga, dance, swimming, volleyball, basketball and golf among many more. They also offer scheduled day trips and day camp facilities. The Park District is continuously expanding to offer the residents of Des Plaines the best in recreation.
Hinkley Pool is located near uptown Park Ridge. The pool is thirty-three yards and features five lanes and a one-meter springboard. It also offers a grassy picnic area and a volleyball court. A snack machine is conveniently located on the premises. Regular admission is $6, and $1 for senior citizens.
This is one of two sports complexes located in Naperville. The park is behind Neuqua Valley High School and next to Frontier Campus. Frontier Sports Complex has two playgrounds, two basketball courts, eight softball fields, one bocce-ball court, two cricket fields, 13 athletic fields, six picnic pavilions, one skateboard rink and expansive trails.
