When Henry Jr. was young, his father, Henry, Sr., had wanted him to become an architect like himself. The son preferred art. And as luck would have it, the Hopkins family lived next to the president of Kirk Silver, an old-line silver maker admired for its style of raised decorations that came to be known as "Baltimore silver." An internship led to art school after World War II and a distinguished decades-long career in his own silver studio.
Henry Powell Hopkins III practically grew up in his fathers shop. With a degree in art from the Maryland Institute College of Art and after years of work under the watchful eye of his father, Henry Powell Hopkins III carries on the family tradition of creating outstanding hand-wrought silver.
The staff at C & N is expert in helping plan events of all types, including fundraisers, open houses, weddings and graduation parties. Rental items that we specialize in include: tents, tables, chairs, stools, linen, skirting, napkins, china, glassware, flatware, serving items, trays, convention equipment, cooking equipment, staging and dance floors.
Please note that C & N has a complete linen department that wash, iron and press all of the vast inventory. There are many colors, fabrics and styles available in a full array of colo rs. Linen is continually being added to inventory, so please make sure to ask about new colors and size.
C & N also has a great relationship with other rental providers in the area, and we can assist in arranging for rentals of chivari chairs, chair covers, decor, couches, and audiovisual equipment.
The owner of our shop Scott David Singer, ISA AM is an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers. Scotts multiple degrees from Arizona State University include: a B.A. in Art History, a B.A. in Anthropology/Archeology; and minors in Business and Chinese Mandarin. Scott studied European and Baroque painting under Donald A. Rabiner, Ph.D., Chinese and Japanese painting under Ju Shi Chou, Ph.D., and Chinese ceramics under Claudia Brown, Ph.D.
