Montgomery County Police's second district, headquartered in a station along Wisconsin Avenue, is headed up by Cmdr. Russ Hamill. The station is open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Along with patrols and investigations, the second district also has a bike unit.
L. Jesse Bane was elected to his second term as Harford County sheriff in a tight 2010 election. The sheriff's office's primary jurisdiction includes all of Harford County except for its three municipalities—Bel Air, Havre de Grace and Aberdeen.
The Montgomery County Humane Society in Rockville, MD is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that has provided animal sheltering services to Montgomery County since 1958. MCHS receives funds to operate the Montgomery County Animal Shelter under a grant from the Montgomery County Government and from private donations.
The Humane Society is supported by private fundraising including United Way and other workplace giving campaigns.
