Hardistys Homewares has been suppling quality housewares for over 100 years! In 1898, Continental Tea and Crockery Company opened for business in downtown Santa Rosa. A "general store", featuring a large selection of housewares, bulk coffees and teas. In 1924, Lee Hardisty purchased the business and renamed it "Hardistys Quality Goods". Lee expanded the merchandise mix to include giftware, small electric appliances, electric shavers and the "new" aluminum cookware. Later, in 1942, brothers Clem and Elwin Hardisty bought the thriving business from their Uncle Lee. The brothers added extensive tabletop lines including Fostoria glass and Lenox china. In the 1950s, they added a large toy department and stationary supplies. In April of 1964, Loren ( Gerry ) Hardisty, Elwins son, bought Clems share of the business. By the time Hardistys moved to their new 21, 500 sq. foot building on Fifth St. in 1974, the store had returned to its roots. Leaving behind toys and stationary, the store focused again on cookware, china, small appliances, kitchen gadgets, electric shavers, bulk gourmet coffees, teas and gifts. For over 70 years, Hardistys service department has offered replacement parts and repair services for small appliances and shavers. As the service department continued to grow and expand, factory service contracts with manufacturers like KitchenAid, Braun and Krups were added. Continuing the family tradition, in 1990 Loren retired and his daughter Kim, together with her husband Stephen, moved the business to the east side of Santa Rosa on Farmers Lane. In 2001, Hardistys moved to their beautiful new location in the Farmers Lane Plaza. This new and larger space allows Hardistys to offer all the latest innovations in housewares and the largest selection of small appliances, cookware, kitchen gadgets and gourmet coffees in Northern California. Voted the Best Housewares Store in Sonoma County, Hardistys is a delightful shopping experience. We invite you to stop by and see why. Hardistys Homewares, Your Culinary Toy Store Since 1924.
