As the second-largest school system in Georgia and the 26th-largest in the United States, the Cobb County School District educates more than 106,000 students through programs at 114 schools across the county. The schools include 69 elementary schools, 25 middle schools and 16 high schools, along with two special education centers, an adult education center and a performance learning center for students at risk of dropping out of school.
The school district employs more than 14,000 people, about 5,900 of whom are classroom teachers. These staffing numbers make the Cobb County School District the largest employer in the county.
A seven-member Board of Education, elected by districts to four-year terms, approves policy and direction of the school district. For day-to-day operations, the board appoints a school superintendent.

Keheley Elementary School is located at the intersection of Kemp and South Inlet roads in a quiet residential community. The school teaches grades K - 5 and offers Target/ALPS and Autism programs. Per its website, its mission is "In partnership with parents and the community, we will develop our students' excellence in academics and character."

Sawyer Road Elementary School adopted the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Academy program. It provides students in kindergarten through 5th grade with a demanding academic course of study that develops global perspectives through inquiry-based learning. This program combines local, state and national standards with the arts and foreign languages to go beyond minimum state standards. Jill Sims is the current principal of this school. Sawyer is the only conversion charter school for Marietta City School.
