The New England College of Optometry is an educational center of optometry and is located in Boston. Established in 1894, it offers a four-year post baccalaureate professional curriculum taught by more than 40 full-time and over 100 part-time and adjunct faculty. It enrolls more than 400 students with a diverse student body. More than 25 percent of the students received their pre-optometry education outside the United States and represent over 15 different countries. It also offers a two-year accelerated programs leading to a doctor of optometry degree for people with advanced academic degrees. The college is working with foreign educators to create customized, accredited programs for training optometrists and upgrading their credentials in countries, such as Italy, Spain, China and South Africa. The New England College of Optometry is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association.

The Boston University Medical Campus is comprised of the Boston University School of Medicine, the Goldman School of Dental Medicine and the Boston University School of Public Health. The BU Medical Campus is located within the Boston Medical Center, its primary teaching affiliate. Together, the three schools employ more than 1,000 faculty members and train a group of more than 3,000 medical students. Medical students and faculty care for patients at the Boston Medical Center and surrounding hospitals and clinics. The MGH Institute of Health Professions is an interdisciplinary graduate school with foundation and postprofessional programs in clinical investigation, communication sciences and disorders, medical imaging, nursing, physical therapy and speech and language pathology. It is located in Boston, and is as independent affiliate of the Massachusetts General Hospital.
