The School Services Center is where the Community Unit School District 200 administration works to operate the Wheaton Public School system. Serving approximately 14,500 students, District 200 includes Wheaton, Warrenville and parts of Carol Stream, Winfield and West Chicago. The average class size varies between 20.6 and 25.2 students for grades K - 12.
Niles West High School provides secondary education for students from grades nine through 12. This institution offers courses in English, foreign languages, mathematics, science and social studies, as well as fine arts and physical education. Various athletic programs are available, including swimming, tennis, track, gymnastics, water polo, cheerleading and others.
The Regional Office of Education for Will County is based in Joliet, but this office, located in the shopping center off Maple Road, is a branch in New Lenox. The regional office serves as an intermediate agency between the Illinois Board of Education and local school districts.
Regional Superintendent Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is the only elected educator in the county. The regional office conducts a number of services, including bus driver training, criminal background checks, educator registration and certification and health and safety inspections.
