As a part of the city of Clinton in Mississippi, the Public Works Department operates through sanitation, sewer, water, and street and drainage divisions. It is responsible for the collection and recycling of various types of materials, such as newspaper, aluminum items, steel cans, plastic milk jugs and drink bottles. The department s sewer division offers utility billing and sanitary sewer system installation and maintenance services, as well as inspects sewer blockages. It offers residential and commercial solid waste collection services in contract agreement with Waste Management, one of the leading garbage collection companies in the U.S. The Public Works Department is additionally responsible for the cleaning, repair and preventative maintenance of sinkholes, drainpipes and lined ditches.
