The Jekyll Island Club Hotel, located off of Georgia s colonial coast, offers miles of beaches and maritime forests. Nestled off the coast of Georgia on a barrier island, the Victorian-style hotel is situated amongst oak trees. The island is protected from extensive development by the State of Georgia. No more then 35-percent of Jekyll Island can ever be developed. The majority of the Island will remain as a natural preserve for wildlife and a sanctuary for visitors. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 1978, it has been designated a Historic Hotel of America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The resort was originally considered a hunting retreat for the nations wealthy elite. The main structures built between 1887 and 1902, were designed by Charles Alexander and Charles Alling Gifford. The resort offers 157 rooms and suites in five historic settings. Room amenities include clock radio, color cable TV/VCR, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, high-speed Internet access and an in-room safe. A variety of dining option are also available to guests. The resort is located in Jekyll Island, Ga.
