The Arabic United Evangelical Church serves Des Plaines' Arabic-speaking community. It is at the end of University Street.
The current church was built in 1964, but Christ Church UCC has a history in Des Plaines dating back to 1892. It has gone through many changes; as recently as 1984 Church of the Master and Christ Church joined to form this congregation. Besides Sunday services and Sunday school, Christ Church UCC offers many youth and adult services such as HUG camp, lunch bunch and book club.
Des Plaines Church of Christ is a quaint house of worship in a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. The church offers two Sunday services as well as Sunday School.
This building is home to three organizations: the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, the School Sisters of St. Francis and the Alvernia High School Alumni Association. The Nazareth Sisters live upstairs, and the School Sisters of St. Francis are located on the ground floor. The School Sisters of St. Francis are part of a congregation based in Milwaukee, WI.
