Opened in 1961, Monte Vista High School is serves the Spring Valley community. Its students reside from all over East County, including La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Rancho San Diego, El Cajon and Spring Valley.
Monte Vista is a part of the Grossmont Union High School District. It is the home of the Monarchs. The school colors are crimson and gold. The principal is Randy Montesanto.
Marylin Avenue is a neighborhood school that serves 487 students. Classrooms are staffed with 25 regular teachers. The addition of specialists and instructional assistants bring the total to more than 40 staff members on campus. The school, which was built in 1958, is newly remodeled with renovated classrooms, offices and multipurpose rooms. A new media center and a computer lab make it one of the more modern campuses in Livermore. The school uses a roadrunner as its mascot. Jeff Keller is the school principal.

DAS offers a varied and unique selection of both state-approved and community interest continuing education classes. Students of all ages and cultural backgrounds may either earn their high school diploma or study citizenship in preparation for the I.N.S. examination. DAS also provides a comprehensive range of English As A Second Language classes--ranging from basic literacy to advanced.
The rich range of Community Interest courses appeal to computer illiterates, hobbyists and fitness enthusiasts among other residents of Davis and Yolo County with a diversity of interests. From "How To Use Your Digital Camera" to "Growing A Kitchen Garden," "Tai Chi," "Yoga," "Arabic Conversation," "Painting With Acrylics" and many more eclectic classes, DAS has many classes from which to choose. Classes are held in Davis Joint Unified School District facilities across the city.
