The Northfield Public Library has been providing Northfielders a place to read, chat quietly and learn for more than 100 years.
Founded in 1898, the library has called its current building, the Carnegie building, home for the past 100 years and celebrated that milestone in 2010.
Located on the north end of downtown, the library has adapted through the years and now gives users access to books, audiobooks, music, movies and the Internet. The library also provides research databases and resources for job seekers.
The Stillwater Public Library was established in 1897, built in 1902 and completely renovated twice, reopening most recently in Fall 2006. Life-long learners flock to the library, which offers books, videos, periodicals and other information in various formats including (but not limited to) hard cover, paperback, e-books, DVDs, CDs and MP3s. The library also offers a relaxing outdoor patio that overlooks downtown. Visitors can take children to story time, meet touring authors, find a pleasure read or attend various community events.
A branch of the Hennepin County Library system, the Eden Prairie Library offers books, movies, music, magazines and more. It also offers a foreign language collection with materials available in Chinese, Hindi, Russian, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese. The library has two meeting rooms, as well as public-use computers with Internet access, Microsoft Office 2010, printing and scanning. Free wireless Internet is also available for those using laptops. Upcoming programs and events can be found on the website.
