Playground Prep is a preschool and day-care center focusing on the social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills of each child it cares for. At Playground Prep, children build interaction and social skills, are cognitively stimulated and gain independence. The Department of Parks and Recreation organizes recreation programs for all age groups, including the popular summer playground program for children, sports leagues and classes for various interests including the arts, yoga and aerobics.
The department provides maintenance for municipal parks and buildings, undertakes community construction projects including the popular Greenway.
The Coventry Parks and Recreation Department also manages the Community Recreation Community Center, which provides meeting space for dozens of non-profit and civic organizations. The Flat River Road facility includes baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a walking and bike bath, playgrounds and a skate park.
This park, situated on several acres near Shickasheen farm on Route 138, features a host of activities and recreation fields. Two massive softball fields are the centerpieces of the park, with one lighted for night time games. There are also two tennis courts on site where spring and summer lessons are held. The park also features two beach volleyball nets.
The park's expansive playground makes it an ideal location to bring young children. There is also a full-zize basketball court that can be converted into two smaller courts.
Located on Point Judith Road, Fisherman's Memorial State Park is a popular site for campers in the summer. The campground offers a playground, basketball and tennis courts and several open fields, along with amenities like public restrooms and dumpsters. A variety of camping plans are available and detailed fully on the park's website. A farmer's market is also held at the park on Sunday mornings.
Tuckertown Park contains a wealth of recreational resources. At the park, you will find several soccer fields, often used for South Kingstown youth leagues and school practices and matches. The park is home to South Kingstown youth softball and little leagues, with a little league and softball field available.
Additionally, the park features two tennis courts, a large basketball court with the option of splitting the court into two smaller courts, and clean restrooms. There is also a large playground with swings.
To the east of the entrance are six small picnic and grill areas overlooking Tucker Pond, as well as a large covered picnic pavilion. A historic cemetery is also located within the grounds.
The Town Common is a large park located in downtown Bristol between the intersections of Wood Street, State Street, High Street and Church Street.
The park has a gazebo, which has been used for concert series and performances. There is also a playground, tennis courts, a basketball court and a baseball field.
To celebrate the Fourth of July in Bristol, a carnival is set up by Rockwell Amusements in late June with rides and games lasting through the holiday.
This park offers great views of Narragansett Bay. Other features include walking paths, a playground and a basketball court. Sabin Point Park is located on Shore Road.
Located off of Wickford Harbor, this tranquil beach has become a family favorite in North Kingstown. The beach's small waves and playground are family-friendly. Though the beach is owned and operated by the town, lifeguard service are provided daily during the summer by the West Bay Family YMCA from 9am to 5pm. $10 will get you a beach pass for the season if you're a North Kingstown resident.
