Anderson Park District, established in 1970, is an independent governmental agency, offering a variety of activities through its parks and recreational facilities that contribute to health, fitness, relaxation, enjoyment, learning, and community fellowship. Based in Cincinnati, the district comprises more than 450-acres of parkland that offer playgrounds, hike and bike trails, athletic fields, courts for volleyball, tennis, and basketball, open space, and wooded areas. There is also a more than 15,000-square-foot skate park and over 4-acres of off-leash area for dogs. For indoor activities and events, the APD leases and manages the Beech Acres RecPlex and manages the Heritage Center. Its recreation department offers a range of programs and activities for preschool children to older adults, including summer day camp, dance classes, youth and adult sports, art classes, and teen programs. The department is also responsible for hosting the area s traditional events, such as the annual egg hunt, daddy-daughter dance, junior high park parties, mother-son night, an affair of the arts, and breakfast with Santa.
