The church is a Christian denomination from India. Mass service and Sunday school is available, as well as choir (English and Malayalam) and youth services. The Edavaka Mission meets every Thursday night. Diocesan exams are offered, and the church holds its annual Spring Fest in April, featuring worship, workshops and games for all Sunday school students. The most important festival is during the Passion Week ending with the Resurrection Day (Easter).
Established in 1950, the Merrick United Methodist Church offers Sunday services starting at 10am. The men's club (United Methodist Men) holds monthly breakfast meetings and sponsors outings; United Methodist Women holds fundraisers.
The church also sponsors an outreach program to assist the needy and shut-ins. Bible study groups are offered. During Lent, Merrick UMC jointly sponsors Wednesday evening services with nearby churches. The Rev. Ann Morgan is the pastor.
This is the outreach center for the Sacred Heart Church. Food for the needy may be dropped off at the office weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., excepting holy days. All types of food—canned, frozen, non-perishable, are accepted at the outreach center.
Established in 1962 in Freeport, the church has been at its current location since 1979, and serves the Greek orthodox community. Congregation size is 400 families. The church offers counseling and confession; its pastor is Nikiforos Fakinos.
They participate in the Greek Orthodox Parade, held in NYC annually. The church has the following organizations—Golden Years, the senior group, who meet on Tuesdays, Little Angels the child youth program, and YAL for single adults. It also has a Philptochos Society.
Every June, the church holds a festival on two consecutive weekends, drawing thousands of people. The church also organizes an Olympics event once a year. The church office is located at 24 Kenny Ave, behind the church.
The Community Presbyterian Church of Merrick was founded on May 8, 1929. It was the eighteenth church to open its doors to worshippers in Nassau County.
Throughout the years the church building has been made available to many community organizations, including Scouts, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, the Homemakers Club, a senior citizens club, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Board of Elections, Little Village School, a school for young children with handicaps, the Merokee Day School, and the Roosevelt Presbyterian Sunday School.
