Established in 1907, Bitterroot National Forest encompasses a more than 1 million- acre area in southwest Montana and Idaho. The forest provides various recreational opportunities, such as fishing, picnicking, biking, hiking, boating, climbing, swimming, rafting and skiing. It offers maps and brochures to provide information about roads, trails, streams, lakes and peaks. Bitterroot National Forest provides cabins and lookouts for visitors and tourists on rental basis.
