Opportunities Industrialization Center of Washington, established in 1971, is a nonprofit organization providing community services through federal, state and local agencies. Formerly known as Yakima Valley Opportunities Industrialization Center, the organization provides education and employment support services. It operates two distinct employment and training programs through the Workforce Investment Act. It also works with employers to upgrade participants occupational skills. The organization s community services include emergency food assistance, adult education, rate reduction assistance, basic food education and outreach, home energy assistance and student education. It provides homeowner services from down payment assistance to homebuyer education, as well as other home coaching models. The organization has branches throughout Washington in Mount Vernon, Moses Lake, Pasco, Sunnyside, Ellensburg, Roslyn, Seattle and Yakima.
