The Santa Cruz Aids Project, or SCAP, supports and educates individuals of all ages who are HIV positive. Occasionally, one can arrive outside the Market Street Senior Center to the sounds of Cab Calloway wafting from the center. The center is intended to be a community gathering place for those ages 50 and older. It is conveniently located just four blocks from a bus stop. The Market Street Theater is the home of the Santa Cruz Follies.
Senior Network Services was established to help seniors and people with disabilities find support services. The organization prints a directory of resources based in Santa Cruz. Aikido of Santa Cruz is a non-profit organization that has been teaching Aikido martial arts in the Santa Cruz Area for 28 years. Aikido focuses on drawing from inner strength rather than physical strength. This facility offers general adult, beginner adult, teen and children's classes.
Santa Cruz Public Libraries Downtown Branch is the main branch of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries. It is open the most frequently and has the largest collection of books of all of the branches. The library spans 44,000 square feet and offers several amenities including a homework center, computer terminal access for adults, meeting rooms and microfilm readers. A Friends of the Library store is also located inside the Central Library. Benches surround the outside of the building for readers to enjoy a book in the sun.

Emeline Childcare Center was founded in 1992, and was originally intended for providing care to the children county employees. Later, it branched out to offer childcare to Santa Cruz parents at reasonable prices. The center offers sliding-scale prices for parents of all income brackets. Emeline aims to create an nurturing and welcoming environment, working with children as young as two years old until they enter kindergarten. A variety of programs are tailored to help children develop and learn skills through engaging play.
Kicking off its 2010-11 season in October, the Santa Cruz County Symphony performs at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. Offering a four-concert series as well as special guests and youth program, the symphony brings a wide variety of music into the community. Santa Cruz Elks Lodge offers a place for Elks members to gather. It works closely with the community through special programs, sponsorships, fundraisers and special events.
