New Morning is an experienced non-profit organization [ 501 ( c ) 3 ] that has provided a safety net of services to troubled youth and their families on the Western Slope of El Dorado County since 1970. 1970. Over 30 staff members provide a full range of services addressing family dysfunction. These services include the 24-hour Childrens Shelter, alcohol and drug treatment for adolescents, counseling and support for pregnant and parenting teens, and counseling for high-risk youth ( youth who are abused, suicidal, experiencing school failure, runaway or thrown out of their home, or engaging in delinquent behavior ). New Mornings therapists are among the highest-trained in the community, holding licenses as Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Clinical Social Workers. In 2008, New Morning provided counseling and other services to over 2, 000 young people at over 20 sites throughout the Western Slope of El Dorado County.

Mother Lode Rehab Enterprises, commonly referred to as MORE, is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people with disabilities. Located in the former gold mining town of Placerville, Calif., MORE was established by a group of parents, educators, rehabilitation professionals and concerned residents. The organization first began serving adults with disabilities in 1973. It has grown from serving less than 10 to over 150 individuals on a daily basis. Mother Lode services include direct training in social, living and vocational skills. In addition, the organization assists the community in providing real life opportunities, including work, for those MORE serves. A volunteer board of directors governs MORE.

The water utility company serves nearly 100,000 residents in northern California s El Dorado County. El Dorado Irrigation District provides drinking water for homes, schools and businesses and recycled water from its wastewater treatment plants to irrigate front and backyards and public landscapes. It operates a hydroelectric power project that includes dams, reservoirs and 23 miles of flumes, canals, siphons and tunnels. It owns and manages several outdoor recreation sites, including Sly Park Recreation Area near Pollock Pines and a 48-unit campground at Silver Lake.
