Kodiak Maritime Museum educates the public about Alaskas commercial fishing industry and maritime heritage and to preserve this history for posterity. Located in Kodiak, Alaska, the museum exhibits a series of 24 photographic portraits of fishermen, processing workers, bartenders, store owners and ordinary people who lived through the boom years of the Kodiak King Crab Fishery, which lasted from the 1950s to 1982. Kodiak Maritime Museum is one of the few organizations in the U.S. solely dedicated to preserving Alaskas illustrious maritime heritage.
