The commercial and residential glass industries have moved away from paper patterns and blueprints to the speed and flexibility of digital design. Although were still one of the few glass companies that has made a strategic decision to continue hand cutting practices, our business process is all digital. Laptop computers on the job site loaded with the latest design software enable faster and more accurate quotes, more complete bid evaluations, more responsive service to our clients and better overall control of our business costs. We embrace technology, balanced with a professional commitment to protecting the dying art of hand cutting. As schools continue to cut trade and manual arts curriculum, we show innovation in our creative approach to training the next generation of hand cutters. Diversity is an important key to our company culture. Although we have a relatively young workforce by average age calculations, we are also fortunate to have a very high percentage of loyal, long-term staff members. Older employees work alongside the younger ones in an energetic exchange of experience and fresh ideas. Glass handling is an extremely delicate process and risk of injury is high without proper safeguards, so quality and safety are critical success factors for us. Since our industry no longer offers apprenticeship programs, we train our own glass technicians on craftsmanship, material and product knowledge, safe work habits and exceptional customer service. Our low turnover rate is due in part to a relaxed, informal environment where everyone is free to contribute process improvements. Cross-training has been another valuable pillar in our company culture.
