First Church We are part of the United Methodist Church, one of the largest Protestant Churches in America. Our focus is to emphasize the love and grace of God as witnessed in the life and teachings of Jesus. Our worship style is designed to insure people new to worship will feel immediately comfortable. Our purpose is to provide an exciting, spiritually healthy, Christian environment where people can worship, learn, fellowship, and enjoy all that God has for them. First Church is actually the first church to settle in the area around Duck Creek in the years before there was a Garland, Texas. We have been in ministry to our community for over 155 years with more than 100 years at our current location. With this great history comes a passion for serving our community which we do through an outstanding Day School for pre-school children, our association with Hope Clinic that provides medical care for the uninsured, and with the Recreational Out Reach Center that hosts over 22 ministries in West Garland. If your interests run towards lively worship, a commitment to growing in your faith, and a desire for serving in ways that make a difference in peoples lives, then we have a place for you. Loving. Living.Serving. These are words that describe the congregation of First Church and serve as the goals for obtaining a life filled with meaning and purpose through committed discipleship.
