Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is a major teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools. It is tucked within an idyllic setting across the street from the Arnold Arboretum. Established by Dr. George Faulkner in 1900 to honor his daughter's memory, Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital has a rich history as a leader in the Boston medical community. The modern facility encompasses approximately 500,000 square feet, and the verdant campus spans over 16 acres. It is home to the world-renowned Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Center, the John R. Graham Headache Center and a satellite center of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The Sonoma Developmental Center is a state-run hospital facility that serves the needs of people with developmental disabilities. Innovative social, educational, vocational, recreational and other programs are continuously offered.
