St. Matthew Lutheran Church, originally founded in Collinsville in 1885 as the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, moved to its current location on Route 177 in Avon in 1963, according to the church website. The church is a member congregation of the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Pastor William S. Carter, a Brooklyn native, has been a minister since 1972 in the state of Connecticut and came to St. Matthew in 1984. St. Matthew serves over 250 families. In addition to its Sunday worship services, the church has Sunday school, a choir, youth choir and youth ministry. For those interested in becoming ministers, St. Matthew participates in the ELCA's internship program. Interns are actively on staff for one year at St. Matthew before completing their final year of preparation to become a minister.
St. Peter Lutheran Church is a place of worship that has been serving the community for more than 100 years. It celebrates communion during all worship services and provides Sunday school and adult Bible classes Reverand Robert Beinke is the pastor.
The Lutheran congregation of Christ Redeemer met for services all over town before the current church was built in 1984. Some of its equipment -- including the chimes, altar and benches -- came from the former Bethany Congregational Church in Bridgeport. Paul G. Waldek serves as pastor.
Founded in 1891, St. John's Lutheran Church serves a congregation of 250 families living in the Stamford area. The church provides two services on Sundays and various activities for both adults and children, including vacation Bible school, choir camp and the yearly Joyful Noise concert series in November. The church also sponsors a free dinner for the homeless on the second Sunday of each month. St. John's offers childcare during Sunday worship services through its Noah's Ark Nursery and also runs Gray Farms Preschool for 4- and 5-year-olds.

Serving the community of Glastonbury since 1885, the Lutheran Church of St. Mark is a large church located on Griswold Street. It offers worship services every Sunday as well as Christian education for adults and youth. St. Mark's also believes in the spiritual efforts of music, offering programs in youth, senior and junior choirs as well as a full orchestra program. Weekend retreats, holiday festivities and annual lock-ins are all held for the congregation's youth on a regular basis.

St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which was formed in 1988 from three branches of the Lutheran Church. The church's pastor, the Rev. Stephen Schmidt, describes St. Luke's as "a vibrant, dynamic and growing congregation that seeks diligently to make fully committed followers of Jesus Christ." The First Lutheran Church in downtown Greenwich is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
Services are held year-round at 10:30am on Sundays. The congregation meets for coffee after the service, and adults are then invited to attend Bible Study. Sunday School for children is held at 9:30am before worship.

A busy, active church, Christ Lutheran Church is located diagonally across from the East Lyme Community Center in Niantic. As a Lutheran congregation, it accepts the teachings of Martin Luther, whose same teachings inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th Century. Rev. Paul L. Scheyder oversees a congregation of approximately 300. The church building dates from 1968.
During Lent, special services are offered on Wednesdays at noon and seven in the evening. In addition to church-related activities, Christ Lutheran runs a preschool for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds.
