Located at the former Washington County Jail, the Pettaquamscutt Historical Society is dedicated to educating the public about Kingston history. Doubling as both a library and gallery, the building houses exhibits dating from the 17th century to the present day. The Kingston Room displays portraits of the Potter family and furniture collected around Kingston Village, as well as a large mural by Ernest Hamlin Baker on loan from the Wakefield Post Office. The top two floors consist mainly of art exhibits, but the basement is devoted exclusively to the jail, with cells kept in their original state.
