Indian Trails Public Library serves residents of Buffalo Grove and neighboring communities. The library boasts a collection of 200,000 books and 50,000 audio/visual items, including DVDs, CDs and audio books.
Wheaton's Public Library is one of the suburb's finest and was recently voted Best Public Library by readers of West Suburban Living Magazine. It features a large collection of over 400,000 books and over 15,000 DVDs and Blu-rays, downloadable ebooks and audiobooks, ample lighting, free wi-fi access and plenty of comfortable areas to sit, read, work or study. The library was renovated and expanded in 2007 and features a direct connection to the beautiful Adams Park to the west. The library offers classes, concerts, children's events and research help for all ages.
The River Forest Public Library boasts access to "thousands of materials including books, periodicals, music, movies and online research databases."
The RFPL is a member of SWAN, an association of 80 area libraries that share material with other member libraries. The system's goal is to provide access to hundreds of thousands of materials.
The library provides phot0copy and fax machines, a typewriter and offers a range of services for residents, including material delivery to homebound residents and test proctoring.
Oh, and the WiFi here is free and unlimited.
The library is governed by a seven-member Library Board, which meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm.
The White Oak Library District serves more than 75,000 residents in Romeoville, Lockport and Crest Hill. It was established as a volunteer library in 1921, becoming the tax-supported Lockport Township Free Public Library eight years later. A Crest Hill branch was established in 1969. In 1981, the libraries separated from Lockport Township to form the Des Plaines Valley Public Library District, eventually adding a third branch in Romeoville. In July 2011, the district underwent a name change, officially becoming the White Oak Library District.
Today, patrons have access to more than 250,000 items, from books to DVDs, CDs, newspapers, magazines and more, as well as inter-library loan rentals, online databases, programs, activities and public meeting rooms.
