In the early 1990s, Mike Cox started a Grateful Dead shop where he sold T-shirts with the band logo and theme. After repeated requests from customers to print other t-shirts with personalized logos, Cox got the idea to shift the focus of his business to screen-printing. These days, the Kirkwood Trading Company prints customized logos on everything from towels, koozies and blankets to sweatshirts and jerseys. The store has printed, embroidered, appliqued and numbered nearly every article of clothing except shoes and socks, according to his son, Matt Cox. Kirkwood screenprints and embroiders team names, logos and promotional designs for schools, businesses, non-profit organizations and family reunions. It creates sweatshirts, t-shirts and jerseys for any individual or group that has a desire to match for a special occasion. One of the best features of Kirkwood Trading Company is that its turn-around time is typically only five to seven days. It often delivers their products for free - within reason - and offers lots of help with the graphic design if the customer doesn't already have one picked out. The Kirkwood Trading Company is also preparing to launch its own line of t-shirts called Malice & Mayhem.
