Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club is America s oldest nonprofit conservation and recreation organization. It promotes the protection, conservation and proper use of the mountains, rivers and trails in the region and this happens if people experience and enjoy the natural world. It has 12 chapters with 90,000 members of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, from Maine to Washington D.C. Its 20,000 volunteers and 450 full-time and seasonal staff lead members on trips, manage lodging and trails, teach outdoor skills and provide resources and information on outdoor activities to members. It offers more than 8,000 trips each year, from local chapter activities to major excursions worldwide, catering to every ability level and outdoor interest. Its lodges, huts full-service camps, cabins, shelters and campgrounds serve more than 135,000 guests each year. Its programs for children, teens and adults teach them to be safe outdoors and care for the natural world. It informs and educates its members and an additional 1.5 million people annually through its books, website, White Mountain visitor centers and award-winning magazine, Outdoors, and Appalachia, America s longest-running mountaineering and conservation magazine. The Great Brook Farm State Park is a public park. It offers many recreation activities including fishing, hiking, canoeing, biking, skiing and horseback riding. The park is also home to a fully operational dairy farm that's open for tours between May and October. The park offers ski and canoe rentals during the winter and summer respectively. Adams Farm is a historical and conservation site that includes more than 700 acres of land open to the public for appreciation and low-impact recreational activities. The area is full of hiking trails of varying lengths, picnic areas and historical sites to explore. Regular community and seasonal events are held, including the annual Adams Farm Field Day, which features a variety of family activities. 

Adams Farm is managed and maintained by Friends of Adams Farm, a not-for-profit organization striving to preserve natural and historical spaces for the benefit of future generations. Donations and volunteers are always welcome.
