"Keeping America informed" is the task that is charged to the Government Printing Office (GPO). In that vain, the GPO operates under the auspice of the Federal Government to make information regarding the work of the three branches of government available to all Americans.
GPO produces or procures millions of printed and electronic products for the agencies of the federal government and disseminates this information to the public through a variety of print and/or electronic means.
The GPO operates much like a business in the private sector, as it is reimbursed by customers for the cost of work performed. For a fee, printed information, ranging anywhere from Supreme Court decisions to research statistics from various government organizations, can be ordered through the GPO.
