Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago s food bank, is a nonprofit food distribution and training center providing food for poor people. It distributes donated and purchased food through a network of more than 550 food pantries, soup kitchens, and offers shelters to nearly 50,000 adults and children every year. The organization distributes nonperishable food and fresh produce, dairy products and meat. Its more than 265,000-square-foot facility has the capacity to store over 10 million pounds of food. The organization offers various programs, such as the Agency Mart, Pantry University and Chicago s Community Kitchens that includes a cook-chill system to enhance meal preparation efficiency. It provides various educational opportunities, job training and nutritional programs to men, women and children. Greater Chicago Food Depository was founded in 1978 and is located in Chicago.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that distributes food to more than 500 sites, such as food shelters, child care agencies, soup kitchens, pantries and after-school programs throughout northern Illinois. The organization receives its donated food supplies from the government, food manufacturers, wholesalers, restaurants and charitable organizations. It supports various meal programs, such as the Holiday Meal Box that provides a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner to low-income families. It also operates a mobile pantry. The Northern Illinois Food Bank was founded in 1983, and is headquartered in St. Charles with branches in Park City and Rockford, Ill. It is a member of Americas Second Harvest - The Nations Food Bank Network.

Tucked in a residential area near the downtown Metro station, Tinley Park United Methodist Church has been a part of Tinley Park since 1858. The Tinley Park Food Pantry, a member of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, has been attached to the church since 1975.

A worship service is held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, with a 10:30 a.m. Sunday coffee hour. A Bible study is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. and a prayer group is available on the first and third Mondays at 6 p.m. Pantry donations are accepted from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. The pantry accepts donations any time. There is a drop-box on the west side of the building. Large donations should be arranged in advance. Clients may recieve food only on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nursery care is available during worship service.

The Hunger Resource Network mission is to aid in the alleviation of hunger by helping meet the needs of food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. We are an all-volunteer organization. Since 2009, Hunger Resource Network has distributed over 3,000,000 lbs of food to soup kitchens, food pantries and shelters in the Chicagoland area.
