Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a specialty of dentistry that requires four to six additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, our doctors manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Each of the doctors practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from office anesthesia, dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This includes techniques designed to rebuild facial bone structures with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, fractures and diseases of the mouth. Toothaches, decay, and wisdom teeth create dental pain on a sudden and unexpected basis. Toothaches can be very painful and disrupt work, school, sleep, and daily activities. Our goal is to help you smile again! Urgent and same day care is available to our patients. We strive to provide immediate surgery to alleviate pain, minimize stress, and improve your quality of life. Decay damages your teeth and destroys your smile. Wisdom teeth can abruptly and suddenly begin to hurt. Traumatic injuries occur unexpectedly and require prompt care. Some or all of your teeth may need to be removed. Single, multiple, or full mouth extractions can be accomplished on an outpatient basis in a pleasant environment while you sleep. Dentures or partials can be coordinated for immediate return of the smile that you deserve. Tooth extractions in this office can be accomplished while asleep. Sedation or general anesthesia are both available. These modalities are provided in a safe and comfortable environment. The stress, anxiety, and pain often associated with tooth extractions and surgery are therefore eliminated. Our services are provided in an office of optimum safety that utilizes modern monitoring equipment and staff that are experienced in surgery and anesthesia techniques. Dr. Brown is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and is ACLS certified. Dr. Brown also employs a full-time registered nurse (RN) who has a master?s degree (MSN) in critical care.

Dr. Davenport was born and raised in Tidewater Virginia and was educated in the Chesapeake public schools, graduating from Western Branch High School in 1969. He attended the College of William and Mary and graduated in 1973 with a degree in economics and received his undergraduate dental education at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University from 1973 to 1977. He graduated with high honors and was inducted into the honorary society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Following dental school, he entered the United States Air Force where he furthered his education through the general practice residency at Eglin Air Force Base. After four years practicing general dentistry, he began his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB, California. His surgical training was completed in 1984 and he became board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1986. Following military assignments to Florida and Wiesbaden Germany, he was transferred to Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas where he served as Director of Residency Training and Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Additionally, he was the Chief Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General for oral and maxillofacial surgery. He retired with the rank of colonel having nearly 23 years of active duty service. He and his wife relocated to Hampton Roads in 1999 and joined this oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in January 2000. Dr. Davenport is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Peninsula Dental Society, Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
