Dr. Kimberly McHugh is the medical director for outpatient services in pediatric cardiology. Her clinical interests include longitudinal care of infants, children, and young adults with congenital heart disease, education of adolescents and young adults to care for their congenital heart disease, and outpatient care for patients before and after heart surgery. Dr. McHughs research has a focus in improving outcomes for single ventricle heart disease, examination of resource utilization in pediatric cardiology, and improving outcomes in longitudinal care of congenital heart disease. She is also an investigator with the Pediatric Heart Network and enrolls and follows patients in clinical trials.

Dr. Karen Gersh, MD is a Board Certified surgeon who specializes in performing minimally invasive bypass surgery, valve surgery, lung surgery and tumor removal from the chest. She also performs traditional open heart, lung and chest surgeries.

Dr. Carolyn Taylors clinical interests are in the areas of pediatric cardiac imaging, fetal echocardiography, and assessment of cardiac performance by echocardiography. She is currently on the cardiology faculty at Medical University of South Carolina where she is the medical director of the Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory. This includes performing, interpreting and teaching fetal, transthoracic, and transesophageal echocardiography in all forms of congenital and acquired heart disease in the fetal, pediatric, and adult congenital populations. She also actively participates in the MUSC Advanced Fetal Care Center (AFCC). The AFCCs mission is to use a multidisciplinary approach to provide comprehensive diagnosis, seamlessly, coordinated care, and maternal-fetal treatment for pregnant women with a, suspected or confirmed fetal congenital anomaly. In addition to being a pediatric echocardiography and fetal echocardiography physician, she also takes care of in-patients on the step-down unit (8D) and is involved in direct patient care in multiple settings.
